Irish music legend Daniel O’Donnell has shared his joy at becoming a grandfather once again, welcoming his fourth grandchild, a baby boy named Jack.
The beloved Donegal singer is a stepfather to his wife Majella’s children, Michael and Siobhan, who have been a part of his life since they were just nine and eleven years old. Now, Daniel’s family has grown even bigger, with Michael and his wife Sarah—who tied the knot last July in a picturesque ceremony in Tuscany, Italy—welcoming their first child.
Sarah, originally from Australia, now lives in Melbourne with Michael. Their son, Jack, arrived last week, bringing happiness across time zones.
Daniel and Majella were holidaying in Tenerife when they received the heartwarming news.
Speaking to the Irish Examiner, Daniel shared:
“A wee boy called Jack, born early this morning, 4am in Australia. He’s not a day old yet! There’s great excitement. It’s a shame we’re so far away; all we’re getting at the moment is pictures, but it’ll be great to connect with what’s happening over the next couple of days. We’ll have live WhatsApps.”
Jack joins a growing brood of grandchildren that includes Archie, Olivia, and Luke, and Daniel never shies away from expressing how much joy his family brings him.
The 63-year-old crooner said:
“It’s beyond what you could hope for, especially in my case, because Siobhan and Michael aren’t biological to me, I’m their stepfather, but I’ve had them in my life since they were 11 and nine.
And I’m blessed — there’s never been any issues or disagreements, never a bit of bother even in their teens.
I recently spent a week in Banbridge with Siobhan and Gavin and the three children. And even if Majella wasn’t there, I’d still stay with Siobhan. I’ve a great connection with them.”
Daniel and Majella celebrated over 22 years of marriage, having wed on November 4, 2002, at St Mary’s Church in Kincasslagh, Donegal. While the couple tends to keep their personal life relatively private, Daniel recently took to Facebook to share a special tribute for Majella’s 65th birthday.
In the sweet post, Majella appeared radiant in bright orange trousers and a matching short-sleeved top, holding a glass of bubbly beside a heart-shaped sign with her name on it. Daniel captioned the moment:
“Getting ready to celebrate Majella’s birthday tomorrow.”
The pair met in Tenerife and married within three years. Though they share a deep love for the Canary Islands, Daniel has said he has no plans to relocate there permanently any time soon.
