Bobby Bare’s 90th birthday celebrated with week of Nashville events at Basement East, more

Iconic, Americana-beloved singer-songwriter Bobby Bare’s 90th birthday will be celebrated throughout Music City with a series of performance events.

On April 7, Country Music Hall of Famer and Grand Ole Opry member Bobby Bare’s 90th birthday will be feted via a star-studded Americana Music Association-sponsored event in Nashville.

Though the Ohio-born “Detroit City” and “Marie Laveau” songwriter will not be present at the event at the Basement East, his son Bobby Bare, Jr., will be there as the event’s host, alongside Shawn Camp, Elizabeth Cook, Steve Earle, Emmylou Harris & Buddy Miller, Jamey Johnson, Kendell Marvel, Chuck Mead, Todd Snider, The Cowpokes, and Lucinda Williams, who are among many scheduled to honor him.

Bobby Bare in-brief, who will benefit from this week of events?

The Basement East event is one of many set to honor the soon-to-be nonagenarian singer-songwriter.

The Outlaw movement progenitor was celebrated throughout his career by fellow groundbreaking and progressive-minded performers, including Tom T. Hall, Kris Kristofferson, Waylon Jennings, Billy Joe Shaver and Shel Silverstein, while influencing modern era icons like Garth Brooks.

Proceeds from the Basement East Bare birthday week celebration event will benefit the Recording Academy-founded MusiCares. This nearly four-decade-old, U.S.-based organization offers preventive, emergency, and recovery programs that support the health and welfare of the music community through direct financial grant programs, networks of support resources, and tailored crisis relief efforts.
